tHe StOrM's enTRY

Ok……..finally I bought the storm. Lot and lot of pleading, lots of compromises and above all agreeing to get settled was what made my parents to allow me for a New Bullet. And this time my pleading was more like a child crying for candies. Every weekend I used to get back home and the same words were repeated again and again…”MUMMY PLEASE..PAPA NU MANAA LO”.. And her reply “nahi matlab nahi…tera ik waar pehlaan v accident ho chukeya.. hun bas kar”…but as they say if you want something from heart then god is with you. So finally on a hot day in June the brand new, shining Desert storm was delivered. In fact it was dad who made the debut ride on the bike. He rode all the way from Phagwara to Patiala which is around 170 kms and that he did in exact 2.5 hrs. After reaching home he made a statement. “JAWAANI YAAD AA GAYI” and both me and my sister were rolling on floor after hearing this. (I booked storm from Phagwara and it was delivered in 3 days instead of 6 months of waiting period. All thanks to dad for this). And I can never forget my first ride on it..Boy o boy what a mesmerizing it experience it was. It’s color and it’s sound, its curves. I was in love with this bullet. So after almost a month with all the formalities for paper work done, I rode back my Tornado(Electra)  to Patiala. So probably this was going to our last ride (Me and tornado). So I wanted it to be grand. Just few days before leaving for home I got a big bore silencer installed. So on a hot Saturday morning at 6 in the morning I started from Delhi….Crossed Delhi border in no time. Then Sonipat, Panipat, karnal and then came Pipli. Stopped at the same place for some time. Then reminded myself that life moves on. So the next stop was Jhilmil Dhaba. I have heard a lot about this place. Overall ambience was dull. It may have been because of the hot weather. But obvious choice for breakfast was paranthas and tea. And guess what!!!!! They served the paranthas with amul butter.  What the Fuck……this was unexpected. I wanted white butter.  I asked waiter for it. He replied “sir yahaan par amul waala hi milta hai”…..with a sad heart I started eating and to add on the paranthas were tasteless. So after a bad breakfast it was time to move. Patiala was 95 KMS. I wanted to test mine and tornados speed limit for the one last time. We banged. And we did it very loudly. I was home in exact 5 hours from my start from Delhi with 45 mins of break. Total distance covered in this time period was 265 KMS. Finally the two stable mates (Storm and Tornado) were parked in our porch together. It was a scene which made me really happy somewhere within. I waited for my first bullet for almost 10 years. And now within the span of 4 years I have 2.

Return to delhi….
I was to return to Delhi on Sunday. But for some reason I stayed home that day and started my journey back to Delhi on Monday morning. And my plan was to come straight to office. Ok, I agree, I am nuts. I have been on long rides, night outs and all other things. But coming straight to office after riding almost 300 Kms was a spontaneous decision. And I cursed myself for it for the whole day while sitting in office.  Started from home at 4. 30 am in the morning with lot of warnings and advises from mom. Total distance to cover was 307 kms. Storm was going superb. At some stretches I almost touched 120 Kmph and It was as smooth as if on 80 kmph. No vibrations, no unwanted noises. I was in office by 10.30 am and my team and boss were looking at me as if I am stranger. The reasons were obvious. A dust cladded turban, dirty shoes, mud coated jeans. It rained a bit on the way. This ride also made me familiar with one problem that storm have. Its seats are not at all comfortable. I had a very bad back pain that day. But still I enjoyed my ride.
So this was the story of how this beast came in my life and how I fell in love with it. Plan to have lot of rides on it. Although it’s making a huge hole in my pocket. It’s fuel consumption is very high as it being a 500 cc. but still as they say “ shounk barhi cheez hai” and as I say “ it’s one life so there shall be no regrets on death bed”.

Till next time “CHEERZ TO THE JOURNEY CALLED LIFE”…
